YOUR OPINION | Reform UK Supporters Face a Hypothetical Test: What If Nigel Farage Steps Back from Frontline Politics?

An informal opinion poll posted on our X (formerly known as Twitter) has sparked discussion among Reform UK backers about the party’s future without its charismatic leader — even as Nigel Farage fights to retain his parliamentary seat amid financial scrutiny

We did a poll named it “If Nigel Farage decided to step down from frontline politics, as a Reform UK supporter what would you do?

If you chose ‘vote for other party’ please say who in the comments.”

The poll lands against the backdrop of dramatic developments. On 7 July 2026, Farage announced he would resign as MP for Clacton-on-Sea, triggering a by-election in which he plans to stand again. He framed the move as letting “the people of Clacton be the judges of my actions” in a “people versus the establishment” contest.

The resignation followed mounting scrutiny over undeclared financial support, including a reported £5 million gift from crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne and assistance from associate George Cottrell (a convicted fraudster). Farage has consistently denied wrongdoing, calling the investigations politically motivated attacks on him and his family.

The poll can be seen below
